Okay, so I was strolling around the makeup aisle at Target, and I noticed this little guy on the clearance rack and decided to pick it up.
This eyeshadow palette is the Sonia Kashuk Knock Out Beauty Smokey Eye Palette Shadow Box. It retails for $24.99 and comes with .34 oz of product (about .021 oz of each shade), but I got this for a fraction of the cost for about $9 with tax.
This palette comes with 16 shades and labels them for you! Although you can use these shades however you want, the palette gives you suggestions on how to use it which is very useful if you are a beginner at eyeshadow.
The palette’s pigmentation is really nice and I love the color selection of the palette. It’s very easy to use and makes a great travel eyeshadow palette since it’s pretty small. However, it does get a bit powdery which reminds me of the Ulta Eyeshadow palette.
Although it looks very pigmented as swatches, the color payoff doesn’t transfer as nicely on the lids. I found that the lighter shades don’t show up on my lids, and I would have to go over it a couple of times to have a decent color payoff. I did notice that it does kind of fade throughout the day; I don’t know if it’s just my eyes but it’s something I took note of. The two shades that I enjoyed from this palette were the two shimmery highlighting shades. They look very flattering on the inner eye corner!
Honestly, Sonia Kashuk is on the higher end of drugstore products, and some of their products cost as much as high end brands. Even though I enjoy Sonia Kashuk products, I’d have to say that this one is a pass for me. If you can not find it on sale, save your money and invest in a better, more pigmented eyeshadow palette such as the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette (which you guys know is one of my all time favorite palettes). The Too Faced palette retails for $49 and comes with .56 oz of product with 16 different shades- about .035 oz of each shade. This palette is overall better, and I think it’s a better bang for your buck, and it smells like chocolate!
But I do give a big thumbs up to Sonia Kashuk for making this eyeshadow palette very beginner friendly with the labels! I haven’t seen an eyeshadow palette do this before. You go Sonia Kashuk!
As always, thank you so much for tuning in to my post, and I hope you enjoyed it!
